Excellence in Supervision - Agent Bethanie Diaz

Bethanie Diaz

Cory was placed on probation in April 2022 for Distribution of Methamphetamine (1st offense). Agent Diaz took over his case in January 2023 and was advised he would be challenging, due to past noncompliance. Upon meeting Cory, she learned of his severe addiction to fentanyl and heroin, which had led to multiple overdoses. His mother frequently contacted Agent Diaz, desperate for help and fearing for her son’s life.

Thanks to the rapport she developed, Agent Diaz was able to have Cory voluntarily report on several occasions to address active warrants. After issuing multiple warrants and citations, Cory was ordered in May 2024 to remain in jail until inpatient treatment became available. After resolving pending charges, he entered Morris Village and successfully completed treatment October 31, 2024.

Since returning to Pickens County, Cory has made significant progress. He is employed full-time with Kings Asphalt, he maintains monthly contact with Agent Diaz through phone and Agent Diaz’s visits to his home. Agent Diaz has also built a strong connection with his family, who credits her dedication with saving his life.
